On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Augsburg-Dayton town twinning, a delegation visited the New America House in Sheridan Hall (Bldg) 116. The guests from Ohio were able to get an idea of the efforts of the two associations America in Augsburg and American Car Friends Augsburg. Many accomplishments have already been integrated into the large building complex on the west side of the former Sheridan Barracks.
Dayton is Augsburg's fourth oldest city partnership and the visitors were impressed by the intensity with which the commemoration of 50 years of American troop presence is being promoted. At a joint dinner in Bay 6, AiA and ACFA were able to offer the city a remarkable contribution to the program of the anniversary event. The associations had also invited contemporary witnesses from Augsburg who had made a name for themselves in the post-war period with a variety of US contacts. We hope that the message of our efforts will be passed on and recognized after Dayton.
